Alvarado Named Region II Athlete of the Week for Second Time

Altus, Okla. – Freshman shortstop Marilyn Alvarado has been named NJCAA Region II Athlete of the Week for the second time this season following team victories against Northern Oklahoma College, Carl Albert and Connors State.

Boasting a .627 batting average on the season, Alvarado had eight RBIs for the week including a three-run home run on Thursday.

Alvarado and the Pioneers face Murray State College, Eastern Oklahoma State College, and Rose State College this week.

Live Game Stats Now Available

Altus, Okla. – Live game stats are now available for the Pioneers’ 2019 season, coaching staff announced Wednesday.

“We’re excited to give our extended softball family more ways to follow the team as we continue to grow and improve,” Coach Genny Stidham said. “GameChanger makes it easier for fans, family and local media to stay informed.”

GameChanger, a popular subscription-based sports technology company, is contracted to provide WOSC softball fans with live play-by-plays, box scores and GameStream Radio. A free app is available for both IOS and Android platforms from the App Store and Google Play. Fans may also visit GC.com/search to follow the team from a desktop computer.

Alvarado named NJCAA National Player of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. - The NJCAA has announced its weekly players of the week honors for men's and women's basketball along with baseball and softball players of the week.

Freshman Marilyn Alvarado helped keep Western Oklahoma State undefeated in 2019 while extending her hitting streak to six games to land NJCAA Softball DI Player of the Week honors!
